As 3rd generation machinists we preserve the arts of bespoke manufacture, repair and replacement of unobtainable parts and altering critical components to suit custom applications. Above all else, as tradesmen we love to apply ourselves to the artisan crafts, whatever form that may take.
Ford Model T - CUSTOM BUILD
Commissioned for Dream World on the Gold Coast for their revamped Murrissippi Motors ride, these authentic 1:1 scale Ford Model T "speedster" replica bodies were scratch built here at Mallard Metalcraft to duplicate the original vehicles. Combining traditional coach building techniques with contemporary methods such as fibreglass moulds and 3D printing, 1 sedan and 2 utes were taken from rendering to reality. The sedan replaced an existing member of the fleet. The utes are a new design by Theme Park Support which now allow wheelchair users to experience the same joy of adventure. 30 years ago I rode in these very cars. Now I'm proud to have built them.
RA28 Toyota Celica - RESTORATION
Taken from a bare and battered shell to a straight and sumptuous classic Japanese sports car, this RA28 Celica was restored as a tribute to a former president and cherished friend of the Toymods Car Club. With a focus on authenticity, every factory line, swage and feature was retained or replaced as necessary before the entire car was sharpened, straightened, aligned and gapped to a standard far beyond any factory ride and worthy of the memory of the man. With a sumptuous shade of purple chosen by his wife, it was an honour and pleasure to have been asked to restore this gem.
